ABUSE TRAINING IS REQUIRED

USA Baseball and SafeSport

For the 2024 season, Abuse Awareness Training is REQUIRED for ALL volunteers. Remember that ANYONE with frequent contact with players, including ALL district staff, league staff, coaches, managers and umpires, must complete a background check and complete this training. This is true even if the umpire is from a paid association!!

Once you complete the training, you will get a certificate of completion that you have to send to whoever is processing background checks for your league.

How do I take the training?

If your league has instructions for you, follow those instructions.  If you are District 9 staff, or your league says you should Just Take the USA Baseball Training, then here’s how you do it!

  • Go to USABDevelops.com
  • Click on Register at the top right of the page
  • Go through the process to create an account for yourself (if you haven’t done this already). Everyone will need to create their own account — this is how USA Baseball let’s you download your certificate.
    • When you create the account, they are going to ask for an Organization. Choose “Little League International”
  • Answer the questions about your role (Adminsitrator, Parent, Coach, Player, Umpire, etc)
  • Once you have registered and logged in, choose Education and then choose Courses.
    • There are a lot of courses to choose from, but the REQUIRED training is Abuse Awareness for Adults.
    • You can also choose Certification which will allow you to enroll in several free courses. The USA Baseball Umpire “U” Certification is pretty good and includes the required Abuse Awareness Training.
  • After you have completed your training (which includes a small quiz), you will have met the requirement
  • To download/print your certificate, go to your name in the upper right-hand corner and select My Account from the dropdown menu.
  • Go to Courses under My Profile. You will see the certificate for you to download or print. Download the certificate and send it to whoever is handling background checks for your league.

What if my name doesn’t show up for my league?

You might not be associated with your local league(s). Go here to see how to join your league.
