Developing Champions is a follow-up to the Mastery Approach to Coaching. The workshop includes: (a) a review of the major coaching principles comprising the Mastery Approach, and (b) group discussion and problem-solving relative to challenges faced by coaches. If you’ve attended a Mastery Approach workshop, you are strongly encouraged to participate again. But previous attendance is not a prerequisite for this year’s program.

What Does the Developing Champions Workshop Include?

During a workshop, Mastery Approach coaching guidelines are reviewed with the aid of animated PowerPoint slides. The principles are contained in a printed manual that coaches receive. In addition, a variety of Youth Sport Issues/Challenges are covered, including the following:

  • How should you deal with a tough loss or losing streak?
  • How should you deal with a winning streak?
  • What is bullying and how can you combat it?
  • What can you do to ensure that your own family responsibilities are not neglected?
